Thank you to everyone who made this Volunteer Fair possible! From the students who dropped by the tables to the organizations who took the time to talk to our students, we are glad for the opportunity to connect.
As our first Volunteer Fair of the year, we are happy to see a lot of students talking to organizations about their volunteer opportunities.
Not only are volunteer opportunities great for your resume, they also allow students to network with organizations that align with their personal or academic interests. You can also make a difference in the local community!
This year, we welcomed organizations such as , , the , and more!
We turned our microphone towards our students to get their thoughts on volunteer work!
Q. Have you been to a Volunteer Fair before?
The vast majority of students we interviewed said yes!
Regardless of whether or not it was their first time attending an event like this, everyone was excited to learn about the different volunteer opportunities.
Q. What do you hope to learn or achieve through volunteering?
鈥漈hrough volunteering, it’s not just the work you do for other people, it’s also the people you know and meet along the way.鈥�
Many of the students were looking forward to gaining new experiences and networking with other people.
Being surrounded by peers who share similar interests and goals is a great way to form genuine connections.
Those who had previous experience volunteering were also looking forward to bringing their knowledge and experience to the table.
Q. What have you learned from this Volunteer Fair?
Overall, the students were happy to see the variety of organizations present at the Volunteer Fair.
From organizations dedicated to wildlife conservation to groups helping to provide meals for those in need, students had a wide range of options.
Students noted that everyone had a different talent and drive to help people and even if people didn’t realize there was a Volunteer Fair happening, they would still stop by to learn more.
We also asked some of the organizations about the benefits of volunteering and this is what they had to say:
“There’s so many benefits [to volunteering]. Either it’s meeting a new friend, getting a reference for work or anything in your future, and just making a positive impact in the community.”
The volunteers we talked to also mentioned some people may find that volunteering can be a form of stress relief as well as filling them with a sense of purpose.
Volunteering is a great way to give back to the community while gaining valuable experience for the future. It is also a great chance to connect with your local community and form some lifelong connections.
